Chemical Pesticide Free…City Parks in Regina, SK

In 2010 it was proposed to eliminate chemical pesticides in 3 of the cities parks as a test project. After using alternative methods, this project was deemed as a success. So, all 3 parks are cosmetic pesticide-free! It can be done. The Canadian Cancer Society is encouraged by this decision.

This makes me so happy! I live in an area that has more than 100 golf courses and I know that they use a tremendous amount of chemicals to maintain them. That greatly concerns me so when my husband and I bought our home it is not near a golf course for that very reason.

We also have many parks that are used by children and dog parks. The pesticides and chemical fertilizers used would most likely have the greatest impact on the health and development on their small bodies. I’m going to check this out more and send it to my city council or mayor to see if they can make changes in the way the parks are maintained. Thank you so much for posting this.

      Hi Susan

Hopefully you find the info regarding Regina’s Parks and that your local municipalities do take notice!
