Should Your Spa Offer Oncology Esthetics?

Most of us have been touched by cancer in some way during our lives, either personally, or through a relative or loved one. There is a need to care for those afflicted by cancer, outside of medical treatment, offering them wellness services and compassionate care. At Oncology Training International, we train estheticians to have knowledge in oncology esthetics by giving them the training and know-how to care for cancer patients. We believe that all spas and wellness centers can benefit from our multi-disciplinary programs.

When a patient is undergoing cancer treatment, one area of the body that can be greatly affected is the skin. It is the largest organ of the body and is vulnerable to damage as a result of chemotherapy. There are a variety of skin reactions associated with cancer treatments such as:

  • Dry skin
  • Itchy skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • hotosensitivity (easily sun burning)
  • Rash

Avoiding any types of allergens such as perfumes, non-binding clothes, and detergents can help alleviate symptoms but giving patients the option of esthetic treatment by a trained professional can be the additional relief they need. With our hands-on training programs, your staff will be learning how to understand and treat clients experiencing some of these skin reactions. Treating them properly and compassionately can be just the extra reprieve that they need to get through the rest of their treatment.

At OTI, we will give you insight and training on how to communicate and market your services to best welcome clients with cancer. Your staff will be educated on cancer and it’s treatments and how they affect the human body. They will learn skills and tools that will empower them to do their jobs better, and give you a chance to market those skills to your audience. At Oncology Training International, we know that our world leading accredited training programs will positively impact your wellness or spa business.
